Peter Mueller works with the executive team to formulate and communicate a research and technology strategy for the organization which is responsive to business needs as well as strongly aligned with the unique strengths the organization, with global trends, and with the mission, vision, and values of Ecovative. Peter evaluates and updates the strategy in collaboration with the executive team including identifying new opportunities and balances the risks against existing work. He drives unification of an intellectual framework for mycelium technology against which all new hypothesis can be tested and onto which proven new discoveries can be appended. Peter graduated a dual major in Mechanical Engineering and Science and Technology Studies from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and was first exposed to industrial biomimicry in the Enabling Technologies long term research group at Velcro. Since joining Ecovative seven years ago, Peter has been involved in the development of multiple mycelium biofabrication processes and platforms, operating at the intersection of biological research and platform system development. Peter is motivated by a desire to achieve meaningful advancement of beneficial technologies within his lifetime, and by the amazing promise of a programmable multi-cellular tissue assembly platform.
