Tamara Pryor

Tamara Pryor has extensive experience in the field of eating disorders. Tamara started their career in 1983 at the University of Kansas, where they served as an Associate Professor and Director of the Eating Disorder Program until 1999. In 1998, they co-owned a clinic called Path Clinic until 2001. Since 2005, Tamara has been working at the Eating Disorder Center of Denver, where they hold the positions of Clinical Director and Director of Clinical Research.

Tamara Pryor obtained a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from Blackburn College between 1970 and 1974. Tamara then pursued a Master of Social Work (MSW) from Wayne State University from 1977 to 1979. Following this, they attended the Universidad de las Américas, A.C. from 1975 to 1977, where they studied Clinical Psychology. Continuing their education, Pryor completed an MA in Rehabilitation, as well as an MA and a PhD in Psychology from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, from 1979 to 1985.

Eating disorders are a serious mental health issue and finding the right treatment program is important. Founded in 2001, EDCare offers patients, their families, healthcare professionals and the community over 22 years of eating disorder experience. Our flagship center is located in the heart of Denver, Colorado where we are committed to empowering individuals suffering from eating disorders to make healthy, long-lasting changes. EDCare has become one of the nation’s foremost center for the diagnosis and treatment of eating disorders. Our multidisciplinary team of board-certified psychiatrists, physicians, clinicians, family and experiential therapists, and registered dietitians provide treatment to adults, ages 18 and older, of all genders and ethnicities. We offer a safe, judgment-free environment where individuals can gain the tools and support they need overcome the serious complications of anorexia, bulimia, binge eating and other related disorders. Upon admission, an interdisciplinary treatment team is assigned to each patient based on their individual needs. This means every treatment plan is unique and is designed to fit the individual. We currently offer various programs in Colorado, Kansas and Nebraska. All of our treatment centers have earned the Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval. Housing options available in Denver and Kanas City. Most major insurance plans accepted.
