Jenna Walsh has over a decade of experience in the field of education. Jenna began their career in 2010 as a Professional Learning Specialist for Virginia Beach City Public Schools. In this role, they collaborated with various departments to coordinate, plan, and deliver year-long district-wide professional learning experiences. Jenna also led a team to redesign and expand the district-wide teacher and leadership micro-credentialing program, and served on the district-wide Social-Emotional Learning and Culturally Responsive Practices program implementation and data analysis team.
In 2012, Walsh became a Secondary Instructional Coach, Literacy Curriculum Specialist, and Professional Learning Specialist. In this role, they supported and managed a department of 17 English teachers and 12 social studies teachers, improved school ranking in the division for student achievement on reading and writing benchmark assessments, and created and implemented an instructional coaching model used school-wide.
In 2016, Walsh became an Elementary Instructional Coach, Gifted Curriculum Specialist, and Professional Development Specialist. In this role, they supported and managed a department of 12 teachers of gifted learners, exceeded or made progress in reading and math proficiency goals for all students, and applied for and was awarded a $5,000 grant from a local company to build a Maker-Space in the school library.
Finally, in 2018, Walsh became a Secondary English Teacher, teaching International Baccalaureate, Special Education, and Gifted Education. In this role, they designed multiple student-centered performance-based assessments and tightly aligned lesson plans, served as the English department chair, and collaborated with colleagues to design the small-group instruction model used across the division at all 15 middle schools.
In 2021, Walsh began working for EdConnective as an Instructional Coach.
Jenna Walsh has a diverse educational background. Jenna began their studies in 2005, earning a Bachelor of Science in Multi/Interdisciplinary Studies from James Madison University in 2009. Jenna then continued their studies at James Madison University, earning a Master of Arts and Teaching in Elementary Education and Teaching in 2010. In 2018, they earned an Education Specialist Degree (Ed.S)/Post Master's Degree in Prek-12 Administration and Supervision from Old Dominion University.
