Mark Beresford is a Director at Edgar, Dunn & Company (EDC) based in the London office. Before joining Edgar, Dunn & Company (EDC) Mark was a Program Director and Client Engagement Manager with significant experience in strategic business planning, product development, business process improvement and service delivery gained on several long and short-term assignments in a variety of blue chip organisations. He has held senior roles with both managerial and technical responsibilities at three market leading consultancy companies; firstly, the Financial Services Practice at EDS, followed by a short assignment within the NCR e-commerce team and finally at the Internet development and strategy consultancy, Scient.
He has over 20 years of a proven record of accomplishment of consulting, managing and developing financial services businesses through identifying new opportunities and delivering payment solutions across Europe. His areas of expertise are Merchant Acquiring, e-commerce payment processing, Interchange, online gaming, prepaid issuing, M&A due diligence and the impact of various European Union directives such as e-money and the Payments Service Directive (PSD).
Mark has closely worked with a number of global online merchants to develop payment acceptance strategies by conducting a 360° Payment Diagnostic. This work has identified cost efficiencies for online merchants by defining an appropriate mix of payment methods, such as the acceptance of alternative forms of payments, and optimising PSP and bank connections.
Mark holds a BSc with Honours in Computer Science and specialised in project and program management at Leicester University. He has been a frequent speaker for various financial services industry conferences and forums.
