Tom Westrich

Vice President of Technology at Edge Autonomy

Tom Westrich has extensive work experience in technical and leadership roles. Tom is currently the Vice President of Technology at Edge Autonomy since August 2022. Prior to that, they worked as the Chief Technology Officer at Adaptive Energy LLC from December 2018 to August 2022. From January 2015 to December 2018, they served as the Chief Engineer and Site Leader at Ultra Electronics - UnderSea Sensor Systems, Inc. Before that, they worked at Ultra Electronics, AMI as a Research Scientist from December 2011 to January 2015, focusing on the development of advanced solid oxide fuel cell systems. Tom started their career as a Research Scientist Intern at Ultra Electronics -- Adaptive Materials Inc. in January 2011, where they conducted research on gas hydrocarbon reforming catalysts. Tom also has experience as a Graduate Student and Ph.D. Candidate at the University of Michigan, specializing in high-temperature photocatalysis over semiconductors. Tom's earlier work includes internships at Sandia National Laboratories, where they worked on carbon composite structures and heteroepitaxial growth of silicon/germanium thin films, and an instructor role as a MATLAB Computer Program Instructor at New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology.

Tom Westrich has a strong educational background in Chemical Engineering. Tom obtained their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Chemical Engineering from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, where they studied from 2002 to 2006. Following their undergraduate studies, they pursued further education at the University of Michigan, where they completed their Master of Science (MS) degree in Chemical Engineering between 2006 and 2008. Tom's passion for this field led him to continue their studies at the University of Michigan, where they earned their Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from 2008 to 2011.
