Robert Villa

Robert Villa is an experienced software engineer with a focus on geospatial services, currently serving as a Senior Software Engineer at EDINA since November 2019, where responsibilities include managing Geoservices products. Previously, Robert contributed as a Software Engineer at EDINA from December 2015 to November 2019, developing solutions for Digimap. Prior to these roles, Robert was a Lecturer at the University of Sheffield Information School from May 2011 to November 2015, participating in research and organizing the CLEF 2014 conference. Robert also worked as a Research Associate at the University of Glasgow from September 2006 to April 2011, contributing to the EU-funded project "SALERO" that focused on information retrieval systems. Academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Information Retrieval from the University of Glasgow, a Master’s Degree in Human Computer Interaction from Heriot-Watt University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Engineering from the University of Strathclyde.
