Derek Davidson is an educator, maker, and coach with a rich background in innovative teaching. They were a founding Humanities Teacher at KIPP Massachusetts and later served as the Director of Instruction at KIPP Minnesota. Currently, Derek is an Industrial Arts Teacher at Totino-Grace High School and a columnist for brightbeam. A self-taught maker, they founded a high school and have held various educational leadership roles, emphasizing pedagogy and the importance of people in the learning process. Derek holds a B.A. in History and African American Studies from The University of Texas at Austin and has pursued additional education in woodworking.
