Sisay Asefa

Sisay Asefa serves as the President of EDSA and has been a Professor in the Department of Economics at Western Michigan University since August 1980. Academic qualifications include an undergraduate education from Addis Ababa University, a BA from Central College in Iowa, and both an MS and PhD from Iowa State University. Sisay Asefa specializes in teaching courses related to Development, Managerial Economics, and African Economies, with research focused on rural and agricultural development, the political economy of development, and governance in development. Asefa has been recognized as a three-time Fulbright Scholar, with experiences in Ethiopia, Botswana, and South Africa, and has received several university awards, including Distinguished Service in 2008 and Founding Director of the Center for African Development Policy Research at Western Michigan University.
