Jill Downie

Professor Jill Downie was appointed to the position of Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic at Curtin University in July 2012. In this role Jill strategically leads teaching and learning and the student experience across the University. From 2002 - 2007 she was Professor and Head of School of Nursing and Midwifery, and from 2007 – 2012 Jill was Pro Vice-Chancellor of the Faculty of Health Sciences. Jill is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has served on several Boards. Currently she is the Education Commissioner on the Australian National Commission of UNESCO and also Non-Executive Board Director of Bethesda Hospital. Jill was appointed by UNESCO Institute of Information Technologies (IITE) and Higher Education (UNESCO Headquarters, Paris) to the International expert panel for ‘ICT in Higher Education Foresight Project’ (2015).

Professor Downie is an established national and international researcher with numerous grants, publications and conference presentations, including keynote addresses.
