Electronic discovery (e-discovery) is a constantly evolving area of the law. While technology is part and parcel to all e-discovery projects, the success of those projects require attention to and an understanding of far more than technology itself. It is imperative that e-discovery professionals understand thoroughly each stage of the process in order to incorporate best practices and comply with legal requirements. All key players from the business units involved with a legal matter, IT, records management, compliance, and legal departments must work together as a team to ensure corporate policies and legal obligations are being met and to minimize risk to the organization during the discovery phase of litigation or an investigation.
