Jurjen Dijk

Head of Photonic IC Validation at EFFECT Photonics

Jurjen Dijk has extensive work experience in various roles within the engineering and technology industry.

Jurjen currently holds the position of Head of Photonic IC Validation at EFFECT Photonics since July 2021.

Prior to this, Jurjen worked at Silicon Line GmbH as a Factory Manager from May 2019 to June 2021. In this role, they were responsible for the output and quality of optical micro modules used in optical engines for glass fibre AOC connectors. Jurjen managed the scale-up of the fab from an R&D phase to high volume production and achieved significant improvements in thermal cycle reliability, thermal shock survival rate, and burn-in test performance.

Before joining Silicon Line GmbH, Jurjen worked at ASML from 2010 to 2019. From January 2017 to May 2019, they served as a Business Process Engineer, leading lean projects and driving process optimization in ASML's Twinscan factory. From December 2010 to January 2017, they held the role of Project Management Officer, where they developed and implemented project management methodologies for new product development projects and led change processes for project management and business processes.

Earlier in their career, Jurjen worked at AkzoNobel as a Junior Project Manager in 2008, where they managed various projects related to engineering, manufacturing, operations, and sustainability. Jurjen also worked at Floris Veterinary Products as a Laboratory Engineer in 2002, setting up a quality control laboratory and performing chemical analyses.

Jurjen started their career with research internships at Philips Research in 2001, where they conducted research on materials for microchips applications, and at IBM Institute for Materials in the United States in 2001, where they focused on Micro Electrical Mechanical Systems (MEMS) research.

Overall, Jurjen Dijk has a diverse background and a strong track record of leadership, project management, process optimization, and technical research across different sectors within the engineering and technology industry.

Jurjen Dijk completed their education at two institutions. From 1998 to 2002, they attended Fontys University of Applied Sciences where they obtained a degree in Chemistry (Ingenieur (Ing.) Chemistry) with a field of study in Chemie/Scheikunde (Chemistry). Following this, they pursued further education at Eindhoven University of Technology from 2003 to 2007. There, they earned a degree in Innovation Management Industrial Engineering (Ingenieur (Ir.)).

In addition to their academic degrees, Jurjen Dijk has also obtained several additional certifications. Jurjen received a certification as an Operations Manager from Patagonia Company B.V. in November 2020. Jurjen also holds a Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt certification from UPD - Join the Spark*, which was obtained in 2018. Furthermore, they obtained certifications in Innovation Management, Industrial Engineering, Chemistry from Technical University Eindhoven in 2003, and in Chemistry from Fontys Hogescholen in 1998.
