John Hilkens is a retired group leader at The Netherlands Cancer Institute (NKI-AVL), where they focused on identifying and characterizing genes involved in breast cancer. They served as Secretary General at the International Association for Breast Cancer Research from 2000 to 2014, and held research fellowships at Yale University and NKI from 1976 to 1979. They obtained a Master's degree in Genetics, Biochemistry, and Virology from Wageningen University and are currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Cancer Research at the University of Amsterdam.
