Mathilde Almekinders is a PhD candidate at The Netherlands Cancer Institute since 2016, with a background in breast pathology, cytology, and dermatopathology as a pathologist at Antoni van Leeuwenhoek since 2015. Previous experience includes an observership in the department of Breast Pathology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in 2015 and a residency in Clinical Pathology at Leiden University Medical Center from 2010 to 2015. Mathilde holds a Doctor of Medicine degree in Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, a Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences (cum laude), and a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences, all from Leiden University, as well as having participated in an exchange program in Hong Kong and completed extra-curricular violin studies at Koninklijk Conservatorium.
