David He

VP, R&D at Eight

David David is the current Vice President of Research and Development at Eight. Prior to this, they served as the Head of Health Monitoring Devices at Verily Life Sciences from June 2016 to September 2021. In this role, David oversaw numerous bio-sensing and wearable projects in both the consumer and medical space, including the first FDA cleared product for Alphabet (Verily Study Watch), a smart nursery consumer product (Lumi by Pampers), a vital signs sensing patch (Verily Patch), a cellular medical data transport device (Verily Study Hub), and a cardiovascular remote patient monitoring platform.

Before joining Verily, David co-founded Quanttus in September 2012, where they served as the Chief Scientific Officer until June 2016. At Quanttus, David was responsible for bio-sensor design, core algorithm development, and cardiovascular physiology research, as well as fundraising, intellectual property, recruiting, FDA 510(k) strategy, consumer vs. clinical product definition and GTM, and ordering hand soap for the office.

David has always been passionate about using technology to improve healthcare and prevent disease. David is excited to continue this work at Eight, where they are leading the charge in developing next-generation wearables that will transform the way we monitor our health.

David David started their educational career by getting their BASc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto. David then went on to get their SM in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Finally, they obtained their PhD in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Biomedical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
