Tim Kraska

Co-Founder at Einblick

Tim Kraska is currently the Director of Applied Science at Amazon Web Services (AWS), where they lead the Learned Systems Group (LSG) with a focus on machine learning for Redshift. Tim joined AWS in 2022.

Prior to their role at AWS, Tim worked as an Associate Professor at the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) starting from 2018. Tim also co-founded Einblick, a Visual Data Computing platform based on 6 years of research at MIT and Brown University, in 2020.

Tim's experience in academia includes serving as an Adjunct Professor at Brown University from 2013 to 2017, and as a Professor from 2013 to 2017. Tim was also a Visiting Researcher at Google from 2017 to 2020.

Earlier in their career, Tim held various positions such as PostDoc at UC Berkeley from 2010 to 2012, Research Assistant at ETHZ from 2006 to 2010, and Developer at Fraunhofer SCAI in 2006. Tim also worked as a Software Developer at ISCM in cooperation with McKinsey & Company from 2002 to 2004.

Tim Kraska completed their education in a chronological order. Tim obtained a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems from the University of Münster in 2004, followed by a Master of Science in Information Systems from the same university in 2006. In 2005, they attended the University of Sydney for a Master of Information Technology degree in Computer Science. Subsequently, they pursued a Ph.D. in Computer Science at ETH Zürich from 2006 to 2009. Lastly, from 2010 to 2012, they completed a PostDoc in Computer Science at the University of California, Berkeley.
