In 1998, Dr. Gordon McGee and other prominent El Paso Physicians recognized the need for improved accessibility to better healthcare in the community, thus the beginning of El Paso First Health Plans Inc. They developed partnerships with private practices and public health providers to deliver CHIP to the El Paso region. In 2001, El Paso Health enrolled its first 1000 members into the Texas CHIP program. Today, our foundation remains the same: To strengthen the relationships that enable us to improve the healthcare delivery system. 

For over 20 years, El Paso Health has carried out the mission of our Founders-to provide access to quality healthcare in our community. Over the years, El Paso Health has advanced its partnerships with local providers to deliver the CHIP and STAR programs to the El Paso region and Hudspeth county. Today, El Paso Health continues its mission by providing its members with continued access to quality healthcare, as well as educational programs, customized benefits, pre-natal classes, reading assistance, food distributions, car seats, Back to School backpack giveaways, and more. El Paso Health has strategically grown its business to help and support all generations of our community whether thru Medicare or Medicaid and CHIP plans. Today, with over 100k members and 160 Associates, El Paso Health is proud to have become the region's trusted community health plan. 

El Paso Health is a Texas licensed health maintenance organization established by the El Paso County Hospital District.
