Derek Trobaugh

Derek Trobaugh, Ph.D., is a Principal Research Scientist and Head of Antibody Discovery at Elanco since January 2020, previously serving as a Senior Research Scientist in the RNA Platform focusing on Discovery Virology and Biopharma. Prior to Elanco, Derek Trobaugh was a Research Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh from 2012 to 2020 in the Department of Immunology, where significant contributions included leading the development of live-attenuated eastern equine encephalitis virus vaccine candidates and successfully acquiring external NIH grants. Prior experience includes a postdoctoral position where critical research on alphavirus pathogenesis was published in high-impact journals, alongside extensive mentoring and collaboration on multiple scientific publications. Academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Immunology and Virology from UMass Chan Medical School and a B.S. in Applied Biology from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
