Saba Sturua

Saba Sturua is an AI Research Engineer II at Elastic since October 2025, with prior experience as an ML Research Engineer at Jina AI where Saba developed advanced text and multi-modal embedding models. As a Machine Learning Engineer, Saba worked on retrieval and hybrid search applications while maintaining DocArray. Experience also includes a role as a Machine Learning Engineer at Rasa, where Saba maintained Rasa OSS and improved fine-tuning procedures as an ML Intern. Saba's earlier career includes work as an NLP Engineer at Intrro, developing an NLP system for job candidate recommendations, and as a Teaching Assistant at Free University of Tbilisi, supporting programming courses. Saba holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Free University of Tbilisi, earned in 2021.
