Johnathan Rush is currently a Senior Geospatial Software Engineer at Element 84. Prior to that, they worked as a Geospatial Biostatistician at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai from October 2017 to February 2022. There, they applied their experience in high performance computing towards modeling the impacts of temperature and air pollution on health. Johnathan also developed scalable data management, processing, and analytic strategies to enable continental-scale models using a variety of remote sensing and ground data.
Before working at Icahn School of Medicine, Johnathan was the Product Owner for OpenSKOPE at National Center for Supercomputing Applications from August 2014 to October 2017. In that role, they were responsible for prioritizing development work, giving feedback according to the product vision, and advocating for the user community.
Johnathan's other experience includes working as a Transportation Planner II at Champaign County Regional Planning Commission from September 2013 to August 2014 and as a Graduate Research Assistant at The Ohio State University from August 2007 to July 2013. Johnathan also spent time as a Student in Decision Applications at Los Alamos National Laboratory from July 2010 to September 2010.
Johnathan Rush attained their BA from the University of Oklahoma in Geography. Afterwards, they pursued and attained a Master's degree from The Ohio State University also in Geography. Currently, they are a PhD Candidate (Left Program ABD) at The Ohio State University in the field of Geography.
