James Mumby

Global Director, Product Stewardship at Elementis

James Mumby has had a diverse and extensive career in the chemical industry. James started their career at E.I. duPont deNemours & Co., where they worked as a Senior Research Chemist from 1970 to 1979. James then moved to Ciba Additives Division, where they served as the Manager of Technical Sales and Marketing for the Coatings, Radiation Curing, and Imaging Business Unit from 1979 to 1987. Following that, they joined Ciba-Geigy as the Director of Electronic Materials Business from 1987 to 1997. Mumby then took on various roles at Ciba Specialty Chemicals, including Director of New Business Development and Strategic Marketing from 1994 to 1997, and Director of the Business Center Electronic Materials from 1987 to 1994. James became the Director of Environmental, Health, and Safety, as well as the Responsible Care Coordinator/Quality, from 1998 to 2003. In the same year, they joined ACC as a Member of the Product Stewardship & Organoclay Panel. Currently, Mumby is the Global Director of Product Stewardship at Elementis Specialties, Inc., a position they have held since 2003.

James Mumby completed their high school education at Flint Central High School from 1957 to 1960. Afterward, they attended the University of Michigan from 1960 to 1964 and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. James then pursued further education at Purdue University from 1965 to 1970, where they obtained a Ph.D. in Chemistry.
