Elevate Teaching works to strengthen California’s educator workforce so students experience excellent, consistent teaching—year after year—especially in communities that have historically been underserved. Too often, new educators enter classrooms without enough practice-based preparation or ongoing support, leading to uneven instruction, early burnout, and turnover that disrupts student learning.

We partner closely with local school systems and universities to design practice-based preparation and early-career supports that improve teaching quality, increase retention, and support stronger student outcomes. The Elevate Teacher Residency is a one-year, paid, classroom-embedded credentialing program where residents co-teach alongside an experienced mentor while completing coursework aligned to real classroom practice.

We also create new on-ramps into teaching by designing instructional roles—such as tutors and other school-based staff—as meaningful, paid, and coached practice that strengthens student learning while helping future educators build skill, confidence, and professional identity.

We are deeply embedded in local Bay Area communities, partnering closely with local school systems, community organizations, and higher education institutions to attract, prepare, and retain educators with strong ties our school communities. By investing in place-based educator development, Elevate helps build a stable, high-quality educator workforce rooted in—and committed to—the students and communities it serves.
