David Peterson

Chief Credit Officer at Elevate

David Peterson is currently the Chief Credit Officer at Elevate. David has over fifteen years of experience in the financial services industry, with a focus on risk management. David has a proven track record in developing underwriting strategies that control losses while allowing each individual portfolio to maintain future growth. David is also skilled in testing and implementing optimal line assignment and pricing strategies to achieve maximum profit levels.

Prior to joining Elevate, David was the Director of Risk Management at THINK FINANCE from January 2010 to April 2014. In this role, they managed relationships with numerous third party data providers with an emphasis on reducing losses and costs. David also dealt with a range of acquisition channels, including direct mail campaigns, paid online search engines, and affiliate partners. David led a group of full-time analysts and contractors who were responsible for strategy implementation, analytics, and reporting.

Before THINK FINANCE, David spent five years as a Sr. Credit Risk Analyst at AMERICREDIT FINANCIAL SERVICES from June 2005 to January 2010. During their time at AMERICREDIT, they were responsible for modeling and extracting raw data from warehouses using SAS Enterprise Guide software, SQL, Access, and Excel databases.

David holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Maryland.

David Peterson's educational career includes completing an MBA at the Texas Christian University - M.J. Neeley School of Business and a BBA in Finance from Texas Christian University. David also completed courses in strategy, building and sustaining competitive advantage, and creating and leading high performing teams at Harvard Business School Executive Education and The Wharton School. In addition, they completed a course in high performance leadership at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

David Peterson reports to Jason Harvison, President & CEO. They work with Chris Lutes - Chief Strategy Officer, Sarah Fagin Cutrona - Chief Counsel, and Eddie Combs - Chief Marketing Officer.
