Ganesh Gopalakrishnan

Ganesh Gopalakrishnan is a technology executive who has led engineering teams at two venture-backed startups, ThoughtSpot and Thumbtack.

Gopalakrishnan joined ThoughtSpot in January 2019 as Head of Engineering for Apps & Experiences. In this role, they led the product engineering team responsible for ThoughtSpot’s product and developer experiences, as well as User Growth initiatives. Key areas of focus included search, AI, data visualization, analytics, product-led growth, embedded analytics, SDKs & APIs, and app infrastructure.

Prior to ThoughtSpot, Gopalakrishnan spent two years at Thumbtack as Head of Engineering for Customer Experience. Ganesh was responsible for engineering teams working on customer-facing products, professional products, and user growth initiatives. During their time at Thumbtack, Gopalakrishnan successfully transformed the company into a vibrant marketplace with enhanced customer experience features such as rich search and browse capabilities. Ganesh also overhauled the professional product and launched “Instant Match” which provided professionals with rich profiles, service catalogs, pricing, targeting, and matching capabilities. In addition, they launched a new monetization model and migrated the payments backend. Lastly, they led product efforts to build and scale user acquisition across multiple channels including organic referrals and incentives, search and SEO, paid channels such as SEM and Facebook, and 3’rd party partnerships.

Ganesh Gopalakrishnan received their B.Tech (Honors) in Electronics & Communication Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. Ganesh then went on to receive their MS in Electrical & Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Finally, they completed their High School in Computer Science from PSBB.
