Rob Phelan is currently the Associate Director of QCL Microbiology at Eli Lilly and Company in Kinsale, Co. Cork, where they lead a team responsible for microbiological testing across a diverse product network. They completed their PhD at University College Cork in October 2013, focusing on identifying novel antimicrobial compounds from marine sponges, and authored three peer-reviewed publications. During their PhD, Rob also contributed to genome sequencing projects at the Human Genome Sequencing Centre in Houston. With a strong background in microbiology, they have supervised undergraduate research projects and presented their findings at national and international conferences.
