Ryan Leenay

Ryan Leenay is currently the Associate Vice President at Eli Lilly and Company in Boston, MA, where they focus on utilizing modern genome editing techniques to create significant patient impact. Previously, Ryan worked as a Senior Scientist and Associate Director at bluebird bio, contributing to the development of gene therapy platforms. Their early career included roles as a Scientist II and Scientist I at the Chan Zuckerberg Biohub, where they engaged in high-throughput CRISPR screening and synthetic biology research. Ryan earned their PhD in Chemical Engineering from North Carolina State University, where they published several papers on CRISPR-Cas systems. They also participated as an undergraduate researcher and team lead at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, earning recognition in the iGEM competition.
