Tom Pietercil

Tom Pietercil is the Head of Department Engineering Standards & Expertise at Elia, a position they have held since early 2020. With over 20 years of experience in high voltage transmission projects for the Belgian transmission system operator, Tom was instrumental in the development of Elia’s first Offshore HV Platform and its connection to the Belgian grid as part of the Modular Offshore Grid project. They led major HVDC interconnector projects, including the NemoLink and ALEGrO projects. Tom obtained a master’s degree in electro-mechanical engineering from the University of Brussels in 1999 and completed the Consortium Middle Management Programme at Vlerick Leuven-Gent Management School in 2011.
