Tom Van Acker

Tom Van Acker is a Senior Expert and Team Lead at Elia, where they lead a team of Market & Adequacy Analysts focused on cost-benefit analysis of new interconnections. They hold a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from KU Leuven and have extensive experience in operational analytics, particularly in stochastic processes and optimization. Previously, Tom worked as a PhD researcher at BASF and has contributed to multiple open-source software packages and peer-reviewed publications throughout their career. They have also served as a visiting research fellow at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and as an independent expert for Boston Consulting Group.
