Frederik Coppens

Frederik Coppens is the Head of the VIB Data Core and the Head of Node of ELIXIR Belgium. After earning a PhD in Plant Biotechnology and Bioinformatics in 2011, Frederik served as Project Leader of the Applied Bioinformatics and Biostatistics group at the VIB-UGent Center for Plant Systems Biology from 2013 to 2015, before taking on the role of IT Manager. In 2023, Frederik was appointed Head of the VIB Data Core, which supports researchers with research data infrastructure. Through their involvement with ELIXIR, they contribute to managing and safeguarding the growing volume of data generated by publicly funded research in Europe.
