Tommy Coster

At the age of 9, Tommy found himself on-stage playing keyboards in front of 60,000 people with Eric Clapton at a Bill Graham Presents Day on the Green. Tommy’s songwriting career began very early in life when he co-wrote the track Zulu with Carlos Santana for Moonflower, an album released in 1978 by Santana. The record went Gold, with Tommy receiving his first Gold Record at age 12.

Tommy continued to collaborate and write with his father, the great Tom Coster, as well as producing jazz fusion records featuring Dennis Chambers, Michael Brecker, Mark Isham, Steve Smith, Frank Gambale, Armando Peraza, Scott Henderson, Dean Brown, Water A., and Randy Jackson, among many others.

Tommy collaborated with Dr. Dre on “The Marshall Mathers LP.” One of the many results of this collaboration was the writing of “The Real Slim Shady” which went on to sell over 20 million units. Tommy then scored multiple film trailers, as well as continued his collaborative writing and playing. He has contributed to projects totaling over 60 Million units sold.

As the music industry started to change to a more independent format, Tommy began to study the trends of the social communities and the need for IP management and a new distribution system. He created the “4 D’s”: Discover, Develop, Document, and Distribute, to show that creating and distributing IP is within anyone’s reach without a major label.

Tommy attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston. His charitable work focuses on Mwangaza Children’s Choir and the mentoring and education of the young artists of the future.
