Paul Tagliamonte is an advisor at Embedded Ventures and a former digital services expert with the United States Digital Service. Paul has also served as director of the Open Source Initiative and as a software engineer with the Sunlight Foundation.
A native of Massachusetts, Tagliamonte graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in computer science. Paul began their career as a software engineer with the Sunlight Foundation, where they worked on the Open States project. Paul eventually took over the Open States team and led the organization's state and local engineering work.
At the Open Source Initiative, Tagliamonte helped to find pragmatic technical and social solutions to large scale engineering issues on the government's largest projects. Paul also maintained the Open Source Definition and a list of licenses that complied with that definition.
As a member of USDS, Tagliamonte helped to find pragmatic technical and social solutions to large scale engineering issues on the government's largest projects. Paul also worked with the Secretary on a daily basis.
In their current role as an advisor at Embedded Ventures, Tagliamonte is focused on helping startups navigate the early stages of product development and commercialization.
