Sam Hawkins

Sam Hawkins is a seasoned professional with extensive expertise in meteorological data analysis and machine learning applications for renewable energy forecasting. Currently serving as Data Programme Director and Data Lead at Ember since November 2022, Sam previously held the position of Senior Data Scientist at Vattenfall from August 2011. Academic qualifications include a PhD in Atmospheric Sciences and Meteorology from the University of Edinburgh, along with degrees in Computer Science from the University of Cambridge and Sustainable Development from the University of Stirling. Earlier roles include Project Officer at the Scottish Institute of Sustainable Technology, Research Officer at the Policy Studies Institute, and an internship at IBM, where Sam developed a cloud accounting web service.
