Bastian Drees

Bastian Drees, PhD, is the Head of Library and Scientific Information Management at EMBL, where they manage the Office for Scientific Information Management (OSIM) that supports researchers with scientific outputs and open science initiatives. They hold a physics diploma from Münster University and a PhD in biophysics from Heidelberg University, alongside a postgraduate degree in Librarianship. With a career spanning over a decade in academic libraries and research data, they previously served as Community Manager and Deputy Head at the German National Library for Science and Technology. At EMBL, they play a crucial role in developing open science policies and support platforms.
