Eva Pillai

Postdoctoral Fellow

Eva Pillai is a skilled researcher currently serving as a Postdoctoral Fellow at EMBL since July 2022, focusing on cell surface mechanics in the evolution of multicellularity. Prior to this role, Pillai was a Research Associate at the University of Cambridge from December 2020 to July 2022, studying the mechanics involved in nervous system development. Earlier experiences include positions as a Research Assistant at the University of Cambridge and a Visiting Scientist at Cancer Research Malaysia, where Pillai verified putative gene fusions in oral cancer cell lines. Additionally, a Summer Research Fellowship at Københavns Universitet involved exploring the effects of Lamin A/C siRNA knockdown on DNA repair processes. Eva Pillai holds a PhD in Physiology, Development and Neuroscience from the University of Cambridge, a Master's in Neuroscience from The Australian National University, and a Bachelor's in Bioengineering from the National University of Singapore.
