Flora Vincent is a marine biologist currently serving as Group Leader at EMBL since September 2022, where responsibilities include studying the social life of marine microbes and advocating for more inclusive science. Previously, Flora was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Weizmann Institute of Science, focusing on the phenotypic heterogeneity of single-cell algae during host-virus interactions, and led a month-long expedition on the Tara Schooner. With a PhD in Marine Microbiology, Flora's research has emphasized diatom interactions in ocean ecosystems. Additional experience includes co-founding WAX Science, a non-profit promoting science and gender inclusivity among youth, and various research roles in institutions such as CNRS and the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology. Educational qualifications encompass a PhD in Marine Ecology from Frontiers in Life Science Doctoral School and a Master of Science in Interdisciplinary Approaches to Life Science.
