Julia Mahamid

Julia Mahamid is a Group Leader and Head of Unit at the Molecular Systems Biology Unit at EMBL, a position they began in 2024. Previously, they served as a group leader at the Structural and Computational Biology Unit and worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry from 2011 to 2017, focusing on supramolecular and functional architecture of centrosomes. Julia earned a Ph.D. while studying the structural investigation of bone mineralization processes at the Weizmann Institute of Science from 2006 to 2010 and holds an M.Sc. in Structural Biology from the same institution. Additionally, they obtained a B.A. in Biology from the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology.
