Jürgen Deka

Jürgen Deka is currently the Head of External Scientific Training at EMBL, where they spearhead the development and growth of advanced scientific training programs. Previously, they served as Associate Scientific Director at both the Swiss Institute for Experimental Cancer Research and the NCCR Molecular Oncology from 2002 to 2013. Jürgen completed their Pre-diplomas in Biochemistry and Chemistry at Freie Universität Berlin, followed by a Diploma in Biochemistry from Universität Witten/Herdecke, and earned a Ph.D. in Tumor Suppressor Protein APC from the Max-Planck-Institute of Molecular Physiology. They have also held the position of Postdoctoral Fellow at the MRC National Institute for Medical Research from 1999 to 2002.
