Prashant Kumar, Ph.D., holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Chemical Biology from IISER Bhopal and a Master's degree in Biotechnology from Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya. With experience as a PhD Scholar at IISER Bhopal from January 2015 to July 2020, Prashant designed and investigated various classes of fluorophores for early melanoma detection and targeted bio-conjugation with cancer cell surface receptors. As a Project Fellow at the Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (CSIR) from February 2013 to January 2015, Prashant verified diabetes candidate genes through RNAi in Drosophila melanogaster, contributing to the identification of genes involved in metabolic syndrome. Currently, as a Postdoctoral Researcher at King's College London since March 2022, Prashant studies the control of human epidermal stem cell renewal and lineage selection in response to cellular microenvironment interactions and is also engaged as a Visiting Research Associate at EMBL starting January 2024.
