Rory Bufacchi is a Senior Research Scientist at EMBL, a position held since 2025. Previously, Rory was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Chinese Academy of Sciences from 2023 to 2025, and a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia from 2019 to 2022. Rory earned a PhD in Computational Neuroscience at University College London in 2016, following an MRes in Modelling Biological Complexity and an MSci in Physics from King's College London, completed in 2012. Early in their career, Rory gained experience as an Examiner's Assistant at the European Patent Office, as well as an intern at BP and an Administrative Assistant at Notariaat de Gier.
