Sebastian Schmidt

Sebastian Schmidt currently serves as a Lecturer at APC Microbiome Ireland, SFI Research Centre since April 2024. Schmidt has extensive experience at EMBL, beginning as a Postdoctoral Fellow and advancing to Research Scientist and Visiting Scientist since September 2016. Prior to this, Schmidt conducted postdoctoral research and completed a PhD at the University of Zurich from November 2010 to August 2016. An early career included internships at the Institute of Molecular Systems Biology, EPFL, and the University of Turku between 2008 and 2010. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. from the University of Zurich, an MSc in Environmental Engineering from Université Louis Pasteur, and a Diploma in Biotechnology from both Ecole Supérieure de Biotechnologie Strasbourg and the University of Freiburg.
