NLP Engineer at Embodied

Catherine Thornton has been working in the field of Natural Language Processing since 2019, when they joined Embodied, Inc. as an NLP Engineer. Prior to this, they were a Project Intern at Speech Graphics in 2018, where they conducted automatic and qualitative analysis of facial animations automatically generated from raw audio. From 2012 to 2018, they worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Konstanz, where they taught Computer Linguistics courses, programmed with Python and annotated data, and collaborated on a pipeline to incorporate the PDTB parser. Catherine also worked as an Intern at the University of Konstanz, where they researched and programmed a computer game with kivy to teach mentally disabled adults to read, and researched and programmed on the Scalable Reading project. Additionally, they translated dialogues and stories from German to English for the project Euroslav 2010. In 2011, they were a Ward Assistant Intern at Herzzentrum Bad Krozingen.

Catherine Thornton has an education history that spans from 2011 to 2018. In 2011 and 2012, they attended ProMedic Rettungsdienst gGmbh and earned an Emergency Care Attendant (EMT Ambulance) degree. From 2012 to 2017, they attended the University of Konstanz and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Linguistics. In 2014, they attended the National University of Singapore and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Game and Interactive Media Design. Finally, from 2017 to 2018, they attended The University of Edinburgh and earned an Msc in Artificial Intelligence.
