EmbraceKulture is working to create a world where children and youth with intellectual disabilities are embraced and accepted. Our mission is to develop a Centre of Excellence in Uganda to advance inclusion and education for this critical population. With the Amaanyi Youth Empowerment Center and a growing fleet of community Ambassadors, we are building a social movement for #NoMoreHiddenChildren in Uganda. 

In Uganda, there is a severe lack of awareness about cognitive or developmental disabilities. In fact local language has no word for “Autism” or “Down Syndrome.” Instead they use words like cursed or possessed.  Still today children remain hidden, locked in homes, victims to inhumane traditional healing practices,  institutionalized and excluded. These are the world’s most vulnerable children, and they have been forgotten.
