Thomas Harrelson has a diverse work experience in the scientific computing field. Thomas began their career in 2010 as an MS&T Intern at MedImmune. In 2013, they worked as an Associate Research Scientist at Novartis and an Associate Computational Biologist at the Broad Institute. In 2014, they began their graduate studies at the University of California, Davis, where they worked as a Graduate Student Researcher focusing on using computational methodologies to predict structure-function relationships for organic semiconductors. In 2015, they held an internship at Oak Ridge National Laboratory as a HERE Intern. From 2019-2021, they worked at Berkeley Lab as a Postdoctoral Scholar before taking on the role of Scientific Computing Engineer, Senior Scientific Computing Engineer, and Engineering Manager at Emerald Cloud Lab.

Thomas Harrelson obtained their Bachelor of Science in Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering and a Bachelor's degree in Biology from The Johns Hopkins University in 2006-2010. Thomas then went on to obtain their Master of Science in Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University in 2010-2012. Finally, Thomas Harrelson obtained their Doctor of Philosophy in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, Davis in 2014-2019. In addition, they achieved the IBM Quantum Challenge 2021 Achievement - Advanced certification from IBM in June 2021.
