Emergency Care Programs
Layla Shaffer is a dedicated student pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a focus on Biomedical/Medical Engineering at Tufts University. In May 2024, Layla was selected as a Laidlaw Scholar for the 2024-2026 cohort, participating in a prestigious leadership and research program. Current roles include serving as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the Allen Discovery Center, where experiments on colon cancer bioelectric signatures are conducted, and as an Emergency Medical Technician in Tufts Emergency Medical Services, where emergency calls on campus are responded to. Layla also volunteers at Massachusetts General Hospital and has previous experience as a Clinical Assistant at Weill Cornell Medicine, an EMT for Assist Ambulance, and as a Research Assistant in various labs, showcasing a robust commitment to healthcare and research.

Established in the early 1980's, our programs have trained well over 30,000 people in emergency medical services & techniques. Our graduates have obtained jobs in the New York City area in all phases of Pre-hospital Emergency Care with the confidence of knowledge in their skills and abilities.
