Mark Nixon

Director of Applied Research

Mark Nixon is a Director of Applied Research with a rich background in systems engineering, having started their career in projects related to oil & gas, chemicals, and pulp & paper. They relocated to Austin, TX, in 1988 and have been instrumental in various research and development roles, notably serving as the lead architect for DeltaV from 1995 to 2005. Mark played a pivotal role in the design and standardization of WirelessHART and is actively involved in multiple standards organizations. With over 200 patents and more than 100 authored papers, Mark is an ISA Fellow and was inducted into the Automation Hall of Fame in 2012, receiving the Faculty of Engineering Alumni Achievement Medal from the University of Waterloo in 2022. Mark holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Waterloo in Canada.
