The Experimentation and Modeling of Civil and Urban Engineering (EMGCU) laboratory is part of the Materials and Structures Department (MAST) at Gustave Eiffel University. 

It conducts research and assessments on topics focusing on the life cycle and safety of civil engineering and building structures, based on experimentation and modeling and linking all construction scales. Its research focuses on concrete materials and structures, from design to end-of-life, including anomaly detection and innovative solutions. 

Its activities are divided into four areas:
- Innovative design of materials and structures (fiber-reinforced concrete, composite reinforcement, etc.); 
- Monitoring of structures, detection of anomalies; 
- Diagnosis of materials and structures and innovative repairs (cracking, corrosion, composite reinforcement, durability); 
- Prognosis: performance of structures in a risk context. The EMGCU laboratory is in charge of the Structural Testing Platform (600m² test platform + 19 laboratories), a first-rate European facility for research and testing in civil and urban engineering. This remarkable facility enables us to carry out expert assessments and research aimed at verifying the safety, durability and serviceability of civil and urban engineering structures.
