Ashley Vena, PhD, currently serves as a Project Leader-Scientist at Emmes, a position held since February 2022, following an earlier role as Associate Project Leader-Scientist. Prior to joining Emmes, Vena was the Scientific Director of the Clinical Addictions Research Lab at the University of Chicago from September 2019 to December 2022, overseeing numerous NIH, industry, and institutionally funded clinical research projects focused on substance use disorders. Vena completed advanced training as a Psychiatry Postdoctoral Fellow at UChicago Medicine, specializing in clinical psychopharmacological research on alcohol and tobacco use disorders from January 2017 to September 2019. Vena's early career includes a Science Communications Intern position at the UChicago Medicine News Office and a Data Manager role at The EMMES Corporation. Vena earned a PhD in Pharmacology from The University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Neuroscience from Lehigh University.
