Muhammad Umar Farooq

Muhammad Umar Farooq is an Applied Research Scientist at Emotek, specializing in machine learning, with over eight years of experience in the field. They previously served as a Technical Lead for the EE Web Development Team from 2015 to 2017 and as a Research Officer at the Al-Khawarizmi Institute of Computer Science, where they worked on developing speech technologies for low-resource languages. Farooq completed a Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science at The University of Sheffield in 2024, following a Master's and Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore. Additionally, they gained valuable experience as a Pre Doctoral Intern at Charles University, contributing to the EU-Horizon project European Live Translator.
