Dirk Hegemann

Dirk Hegemann is currently the Group Manager of Plasma & Coating at Empa and has been a member of the board at Swissvacuum since 2022. They serve as a board member for the Schweizerische Physikalische Gesellschaft and the International Plasma Chemistry Society, roles they have held since 2018 and 2012, respectively. Previously, Dirk worked as a Project Leader at Fraunhofer-Institut für Grenzflächen- und Bioverfahrenstechnik IGB from 1999 to 2003 and was a Scientific Employer at Empa from 2003 to 2005. Dirk obtained a Diplom in Physics and a Dr. rer. nat. in Materials Science from Technische Universität Darmstadt, completing their studies in 1996 and 1999, respectively.
