Empowervate: Empowering the Next Generation of Active Citizens

Empowervate empowers and motivates the next generation of active citizens through our flagship initiative, The Youth Citizens Action Programme (YCAP). Our programme primarily engages learners from public primary and secondary schools, equipping them with the tools and skills necessary to address social, environmental, educational, or economic challenges within their schools or communities.

YCAP provides a comprehensive toolkit and workshops focused on project management skills development. These initiatives culminate in showcase platforms at district, provincial, and national levels, in collaboration with the Department of Basic Education. Over the past 15 years, YCAP has impacted more than 43,000 learners, fostering a mindset of active citizenship and social entrepreneurship.

We run the programme in collaboration with the Department of Education, Sport, Arts and Culture, and we rely on donor funds to operate. To continue our impactful work, we need more funders to support our programme.
