Shallan Govender

Shallan Govender is an experienced media professional with a strong background in journalism and editing. Currently serving as a Digital Editor at Eyewitness News since November 2023 and a Sub Editor at Newzroom Afrika since April 2023, Shallan previously held roles as Sub Editor Supervisor and Senior Sub Editor at eNCA from May 2019 to July 2024, where responsibilities included researching and re-writing broadcast copy and liaising with reporters. Shallan's journalism career began at the Sunday Tribune Newspaper and included a position at Sapa (South African Press Association) and a Senior Communications Specialist role at Full Circle Communications. Shallan holds an N. Diploma in Journalism, Broadcast Journalism from Durban Institute of Technology, and completed education with a Merit Pass from P R Pather Secondary.
